Organizers have prepared the venue for this weekend’s presidential elections in Mogadishu.
Members of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on Presidential Elections visited Afisyoni Tent where the polls are scheduled to take place.
Somalia votes for the country’s new President on Sunday, May 15.
African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) troops have already been at the venue to secure it ahead of the polls.
ATMIS placed the venue on total lockdown for the entirety of this week.
It plans to lift the lockdown on Monday, May 16.
Somali Police Force (SPF) officers joined their colleagues from ATMIS in securing the grounds.
Legislators from both chambers of the federal parliament – Lower House and Upper House – voted for the new President over the weekend.
Thirty-nine candidates have been cleared for the polls.
They presented their manifestos before a joint session of the Lower House and Upper House from May 11-12.
