Mogadishu hosted an event held to commemorate the Africa Day.
Several senior government officials attended the event. They were led by Ahmed Fiqi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The Africa Day is celebrated on May 26.
Fiqi delivered the keynote address at the event. In his address, he reminded the audience of the incredible contribution that Somalia has made in the independence of several African nations.
He added that Somalia takes pride at being one of the founding members of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), which later evolved into the African Union (AU).
