Mogadishu, Somalia – The President of the Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA), Augustino Parek Maduot, attended a landmark peace match held at Mogadishu Stadium on Tuesday, symbolizing unity and solidarity through sport.
The high-profile event featured legendary African footballers, including Samuel Eto’o, Jay-Jay Okocha, and Emmanuel Adebayor, drawing a large and enthusiastic crowd.
Eto’o, currently the President of the Cameroon Football Federation and a Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee member, was among the key attractions on the pitch.
Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre, graced the occasion, underscoring the government’s support for peacebuilding initiatives through sports.
Also participating was Suleiman Waberi, President of the Djibouti Football Federation and a member of the FIFA Council.
The match, which featured a mix of African Legends and a selected team, marked a rare moment of celebration and unity in Mogadishu, highlighting the power of football to inspire hope and peace across the region.
