The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) assisted Somali military to carry out a recent operation in El Lahelay from a remote location.
Maj. Jessica Tait, an AFRICOM spokesperson, confirmed the developments in an email to the media.
She was speaking about the airstrike conducted at El Lahelay last week on September 6.
Five civilians lost their lives in the military operation.
In her email, Maj. Tait stated that AFRICOM troops were never at the scene.
Instead, they assisted Somali National Army (SNA) while holes up in a remote location far away from the frontline.
Se confirmed that a woman and three children were among the civilians killed in the operation.
