AFRICOM Conducts Two Fresh Airstrikes in Somalia

The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) conducted two fresh drone attacks in Somalia on January 19.

AFRICOM’s latest airstrikes took place on Wednesday at Deb Scinnele and Jamaame.

The US military confirmed that it conducted the airstrikes in conjunction with the Somali National Army (SNA) troops.

According to AFRICOM, three Al-Shabaab militants lost their lives in the drone attack.

AFRICOM said that no civilian was hurt or killed in the twin drone attacks.

Major General Dagvin Anderson, the Commander of the Joint Task Force-Quartz (JFT-Q), confirmed the news to the media on Tuesday.

According to Maj. Gen. Anderson, “We targeted known Al-Shabaab bases in Deb Scinnele and Jamaame in our latest twin attacks.”

He confirmed that the airstrikes are crucial in disrupting the ability of Al-Shabaab to attack US partners in the Horn of Africa region.
