AFRICOM Confirms Killing One ISIS Terrorist in April 11 Airstrike in Puntland

On April 11, 2025, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), in coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, conducted an airstrike approximately 50 miles southeast of Bosaso in Puntland, northeastern Somalia.

The operation targeted ISIS-Somalia operatives, resulting in the elimination of one terrorist. AFRICOM reported that no civilians were harmed during the precision strike.

This action is part of ongoing U.S. efforts to disrupt and degrade the capabilities of ISIS-Somalia, a designated terrorist organization.

Previous operations in the region have similarly focused on eliminating key ISIS figures and infrastructure to prevent the group from orchestrating attacks that threaten regional stability and international security.

The U.S. remains committed to supporting Somalia and its partners in combating terrorism and promoting peace in the region.
