The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) denied killing Cuban doctors in an airstrike that it carried out in Somalia in February this year.
In the latest civilian harm assessment that it publishes quarterly, AFRICOM admitted to carrying out the airstrike in the East African nation earlier this year.
However, it denied killing any civilians or Cuban doctors in the airstrike.
AFRICOM adds that it undertook the airstrike in the Somalia town of Jilib on February 15.
According to AFRICOM, an online media source stated that two civilians were killed in the airstrike. AFRICOM received these news on February 17.
It then carried out its own investigations which disapproved the claims.
At the time, Al-Shabaab hit out at AFRICOM for killing two Cuban doctors named Landy Rodriguez and Assel Herrera in the February airstrike.
