The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) has denied any involvement in the airstrike that killed seven civilians in Somalia this week.
Somali military had confirmed carrying out a successful airstrike in El Garas during which three senior Al-Shabaab leaders were killed.
However, it later emerged that seven civilians had been killed in the same attack.
The Somali government stated that it undertook the airstrike with an international partner. It did not specify the partner in question, though.
AFRICOM said that none of its officers were on the site of the operation.
Nevertheless, it acknowledged the attack and the subsequent deaths of the civilians.
