The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) carried out a couple of self-defense airstrikes against Al-Shabaab militants near Kismayo.
AFRICOM carried out the airstrikes on Sunday, January 21.
The airstrikes were approximately 35kms to the northeast of Kismayo.
A preliminary report from AFRICOM indicates that the airstrikes left three Al-Shabaab terrorists dead.
AFRICOM promised to continue helping Somali military and other partners to deal with the terrorists effectively.
