MOGADISHU — The Somali National Army (SNA), in cooperation with international partners, conducted an airstrike targeting Al-Shabaab militants in the Middle Shabelle region.
The operation specifically targeted a group of combatants who were reportedly planting landmines on the road connecting Masaajid Ali Gaduud and Daaru Salaam.
Targeting IED Teams
According to military sources, the strike was launched to intercept militants planning to harm civilians traveling on the inter-regional roads.
The airstrike resulted in the deaths of 15 militants. A vehicle being used to transport the explosives and weapons was completely destroyed in the blast.
The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed its commitment to continuing planned operations to eradicate remnants of the group and ensure the safety of the Somali people.
This strike is part of a broader campaign in Middle Shabelle to secure main supply routes and protect local communities from IED threats.
