The Minister of Environment and Climate Change Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi highlighted her ministry’s relentless efforts in addressing the pressing environmental issues facing Somalia.
Speaking at a recent public forum, she noted that one of the significant challenges her ministry has tackled is the absence of comprehensive environmental laws, which had previously hampered effective environmental governance.
Additionally, she pointed out that limited public awareness on environmental matters was a major hurdle.
Despite these challenges, her team has been dedicated to creating a framework for environmental protection and raising awareness among the public since her appointment as Somalia’s first environment minister.
