Al-Shabaab has claimed that the United States military troops in abandoned their Janay Abdalle outpost after it came under attack earlier this week.
The Al-Qaeda linked group made this claim in a statement published through its proxy media outlets.
According to the militia group, their attack at the military outpost in the southern part of the country on Wednesday left the US troops shocked.
Al-Shabaab stated that the Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers at the base also took off immediately after the militants launched the attack.
The facility is located 60kms away from Kismayo.
A statement that was allegedly from Al-Shabaab confirmed the departure by the military from the region.
In the statement, the extremists claim that they have won a “huge victory” against the highly trained US and Somalia forces.
