Al-Shabaab attacked Kenya’s Border Patrol Unit (BPU) using an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Lamu on December 20.
It is not yet clear whether any casualties were recorded in the incident.
Security authorities in the region confirmed that the incident took place on Sunday at Nyangoro, Lamu County.
According to the sources, the BPU squad was traveling around the area as part of their usual patrols when the blast rocked their car.
