Al-Shabaab militants have attacked an African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) base in Bulomarer town.
The attack took place on December 16.
Bulomarer is roughly 123kms from Mogadishu.
According to a military source, the militants first attacked a security checkpoint in Bulomarer.
However, the military repulsed the fighters thus forcing them to flee.
Afterward, the militants then launched an attack at the local base of the AMISOM forces. Some mortar shells landed inside the AMISOM base.
Al-Shabaab then claimed responsibility for the attack.
In their view, the attack caused the deaths of around 17 peacekeepers.
