The Al-Shabaab militant group launched a heavy artillery attack against the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) base in Afgoye.
The military base is in a town lying close to 30kms away from Mogadishu.
According to several sources, the attack against the AMISOM base in Afgoye took place on February 23.
Residents reported intense fighting in the region.
It’s not yet clear whether there were any casualties at the base, which hosts soldiers from Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF).
