Al-Shabaab Attacks Towns along Somalia-Ethiopia Border

Al-Shabaab militants attacked towns along the Somalia-Ethiopia border on July 22.

Reports from the region indicate that the terrorists centered their attacks around two towns along the border – Yed and Ato.

The militants later claimed to have killed more than 87 police soldiers in separate attacks carried out in the two towns, which are in Bakol region.

Reportedly, the police soldiers killed in the attack were from Liyu.

The region has a large presence of Liyu police officers and soldiers.

The two towns are only 80kms away from each other.

Military personnel from the Somali State in Ethiopia then responded to the attack together with soldiers from the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF).
