Al-Shabaab militants have launched an explosive attack at a local airport in the Hiiran region.
Reports from the region indicate that the extremists bombed Bulo Burte Airport on Sunday, September 19 in the morning.
Mohamud Benebenne, the local Member of Parliament (MP), confirmed the incident to the public.
The politician noted that the extremists destroyed part of the facility.
He further stated that the extremists were attacking the aviation facility for the second time. The passengers’ waiting bay has been reduced to ashes.
While updating the nation, the MP condemned the militants for an attack that’s an affront to development in the region.
He also called upon authorities to boost security in the region, especially around the airport and other important permanent buildings.
