Al-Shabaab claims that its militants killed 43 Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers at an army base near Qayib.
The terrorist group made this claim on Friday.
It said that its militants launched a dawn attack against an army base in Qayib, which is next to Bahdo town.
In the ensuing battle, the militants killed 43 soldiers while leaving 51 more wounded.
They launched the attack with a suicide explosion.
Meanwhile, the army countered this by saying that soldiers foiled an attempt by the terrorists to overrun their Qayib base.
