Al-Qaeda has claimed responsibility for the suicide bomb attack in Mogadishu that caused the deaths of at least eight Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers.
The attack, which took place early on Saturday morning, shocked local residents and the entire country.
Al-Shabaab said it sent its fighters to target a military base that is near Mogadishu Stadium, which was recently reopened after being closed for years for renovations.
A suicide bomber set off the bomb that also injured 15 other soldiers, according to eyewitnesses and local authorities.
