Top Al-Shabaab Commander Killed in Jubbaland Raid

KISMAYO, Somalia – A senior Al-Shabaab figure known as Farah-Jilib was killed along with seven bodyguards in a precision operation by Jubbaland forces and the Somali National Army’s Danab unit, security sources report.

Officials state the raid targeted the group’s leaders as they sought to relocate between positions near Jilib, increasing pressure on the militants’ command structure. Troops are advancing toward Jilib, the group’s longstanding headquarters.

Recent events signal mounting strain on Al-Shabaab’s leadership, with commanders abandoning entrenched positions amid persistent Somali military gains.

Jubbaland and SNA-Danab units press on, constricting the militants’ operational space. Zones once deemed secure are now battlegrounds or succumbing to Jubbaland authority.

These advances follow the liberation of Jamaame days earlier by Jubbaland forces, SNA allies, and international partners. Forces now target the Jilib corridor in Middle Jubba.

Al-Shabaab fighters struggle to defend their strongholds as the campaign escalates. Somalia’s government anticipates militants will surrender through the offered amnesty.
