Al-Shabaab has vowed to finance the removal of Ali Jeyte as the Governor of Hiraan Region.
Mohamed Abdi Ware, a former leader of HirShabelle regional state, said this while addressing the media on Sunday.
Ware mentioned that Al-Shabaab has targeted Gov. Jeyte for leading the ongoing onslaught against the terrorists in the region.
The counterterrorism operation in the region has gone on for the last nine months.
Ware, who now serves as the Presidential Envoy for Civil Protection and Stabilization, added that the group was relying on its dollar muscle.
It was using its dollar muscle to influence local leaders to kick Gov. Jeyte out of office.
