Al-Shabaab Kill Five Soldiers in a Military Base Attack in Somalia

Al-Shabaab militants attacked a military base in Somalia and killed five Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers.

The military base, which is in Deynunay and roughly 26kms away from Baidoa, came under attack on Wednesday evening.

Reports indicate that the extremists caught the soldiers unaware.

During the attack, at least five SNA soldiers were killed while countless others were wounded and rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities have not confirmed whether the soldiers wounded or killed any Al-Shabaab fighter during the fight.

Al-Shabaab has suffered numerous losses this year from military operations conducted by SNA, African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and US Africa Command (AFRICOM).

Wednesday’s event was a rare occasion when it had inflicted such heavy casualties and losses to any of those forces.
