Danab Special Forces, an elite unit of the Somalia National Army (SNA), carried out an operation that killed an Al-Shabaab militant responsible for making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
The specially trained forces worked with Puntland’s special forces to strike at one of Al-Shabaab’s most critical departments.
SNA released a statement afterward confirming the incident, which took place on Saturday.
In the statement, SNA clarified that they worked closely with the Special Forces of Puntland to hunt down and kill the extremist, who is a senior member in the Al-Qaeda linked group.
Furthermore, SNA mentioned in the statement that the extremist had helped make numerous IEDs that caused the deaths of many government officials in Galmudug and Puntland states.
According to the statement, the extremist’s death occurred while he was planting a newly made IED.
Security authorities have expressed gratitude to the members of the public for providing information that led to the fighter’s execution.
