Al-Shabaab claims that its fighters killed several United States soldiers in the latest bomb attack in Somalia.
Members of the Al-Qaeda linked group claim that they killed up to 16 people in Monday’s attack.
More critically, they alleged that United States soldiers, who are in Somalia as part of the US Africa Command (AFRICOM), were among the dead.
Furthermore, reports indicate that the dead include several people working for Bancroft Global Development, which has offices in the area.
Al-Shabaab published a statement on media outlets that are sympathetic to its cause.
In its statement, the extremist group claims that its militants killed four active American servicemen working under AFRICOM.
Additional reports show that 12 people were injured in the attack.
AFRICOM has around 600 active servicemen working in the East African nation. One of its outposts is in Janay Abdalle, Jubbaland.
The state is one of the worst affected in the Horn of Africa country with a large number of Al-Shabaab fighters and activities.
