Gunmen believed to be part of the Al-Shabaab militia have reportedly kidnapped a HirShabelle State lawmaker.
According to witnesses and confirmation from authorities, Mohamed Mohamud Siyad was snatched by a group of gunmen early on Sunday.
The incident took place along the main Jowhar-Mogadishu Road. At the time, Siyad was traveling in a public minibus.
Local security agents have commenced investigations to determine the whereabouts of the local lawmaker.
Al-Shabaab is yet to claim responsibility for the kidnap though the incident has all the hallmarks of similar ones that the Al-Qaeda linked group has carried out in the past.
