The United States military, working closely with Somali National Army (SNA), carried out a drone attack in Qunyo Barrow that killed an Al-Shabaab militia.
Qunyo Barrow has received a lot of attention from the United States military in recent weeks. This Al-Shabaab territory in Lower Shabelle is likely to continue receiving numerous airstrikes.
According to the US military and SNA, the airstrikes are designed to weaken the militants to stop them from continuing to cause mayhem in the country and the Horn of Africa region.
Thursday strike was the third time the US in conjunction with SNA has targeted Al-Shabaab in Qunyo Barrow.
In 2019, while working under the leadership of Gen. Stephen Townsend, AFRICOM carried out 63 airstrikes in different parts of the country. All the attacks killed dozens of insurgents.
