Al-Shabaab Recapture Two Towns after SNA Troops Withdraw

Reports from Somalia indicate that Al-Shabaab has recaptured two towns following the withdrawal by Somali National Army (SNA) troops.

The towns the group recaptured from government forces were listed as Deniga and Basra.

Both towns are reportedly 30kms north of Somalia’s capital of Mogadishu. They are also west of Bal’ad.

The move by the militants to retake both towns is a “worrying development” in the country.

It is the latest move by a group that is increasingly demonstrating its fearlessness in carrying out deadly attacks around the East African nation.

Moreover, the recapture offers proof that the Al-Qaeda linked group continues to gain more ground in the nation.
