The head of Al-Shabaab’s operations in Bay Region was killed in the latest drone attack by the United States military.
General Odowa Yusuf Rage, the Chief of Somali National Army (SNA) confirmed the news to the public through the media.
In his interview with the media, Gen. Odowa stated that the latest drone attack, carried jointly by SNA and United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) troops, killed five militants.
Further, Gen. Odowa clarified that several top leaders of the militia group were killed in the January 7, 2021 incident.
Gen. Odowa specifically mentioned the name of Mukhtar Nurow, a militant who leads Al-Shabaab’s operations in the Bay Region.
Moreover, the SNA Chief also informed the public that apart from the five militants, three other people lost their lives.
