Al-Shabaab’s Top Leader Killed in Security Operation in Middle Jubba

One of the most senior Al-Shabaab leaders was killed in a security operation that took place on Sunday in Middle Jubba.

Security sources confirmed to the public that Abdullahi Nadir was killed in an operation carried out on Saturday, October 1.

Somali National Army (SNA) conducted the operation jointly with its international security partners in Middle Jubba’s Haramka village.

For years, the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) sought Nadir with the intention of bringing him to book for the injustices and crimes committed against the people of Somalia.

A statement from the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism said that Nadir’s death is akin to a “thorn removed from the people of Somalia.”

Nadir, as one of the co-founders of the Al-Shabaab militia group, had a $3 million bounty on his head.
