The government of Somalia has cancelled all flights into and out of Mogadishu on the day of the presidential elections.
Somalia holds presidential elections on Sunday, May 15.
Earlier, the government had declared a curfew in the national capital starting from 9pm on May 14 to 6am on Monday, May 16.
Therefore, there is to be no movement of people or traffic for the duration of the curfew.
Now, the government has placed a blanket ban on all flights into and out of the nation’s capital city on Sunday.
These moves are designed to secure the capital city for the presidential polls.
All leaders of the Federal Member States (FMS) have already traveled to Mogadishu for the elections.
