Somalia’s international partners have urged all the Federal Member States (FMS) leaders to attend the ongoing talks in Dhusamareb to resolve outstanding issues.
The partners issued a joint statement through the United Nations in Somalia (UNSOM).
In the statement, they welcomed the arrival of representatives from the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and leaders from three regional states in Dhusamareb.
Puntland and Jubbaland leaders are yet to show up for the meeting.
Leaders of the two states have said they have no confidence in FGS through President Mohamed Farmaajo to honor any agreement reached in Dhusamareb.
Instead, they want the international partners to send guarantors to the meeting to ensure that Farmaajo implements any agreement signed at the meeting.
However, the international community has distanced itself from that.
Instead, it has urged the two leaders and their representatives to attend the meeting and resolve any outstanding issues they might have with Farmaajo and his administration.
Some of the international partners who signed the statement include the European Union, AMISOM, Intergovernmental Authority on Development, and the United Nations.
Others include the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway, Spain, and Sweden. Ireland, Japan, and Italy also signed it as did Kenya and Netherlands to mention a few.
