All Striking FAVORI Workers Reinstated

All workers employed by FAVORI who have been striking over egregious labor abuses by their employer have been reinstated.

Their reinstatement followed a dialogue involving different parties.

Representatives from the Federal Government of Somalia, the airport authority, FAVORI, and Federation of Somali Trade Unions attended the dialogue, which took place on August 10.

Following the dialogue, it was agreed that all the workers would be reinstated and that none of them would be dismissed.

Additionally, it was agreed that there would be no more part-time or temporary workers.

Furthermore, the participants at the meeting agreed to proceed to a social dialogue that would address all the concerns raised by the workers.

The workers had threatened to put down their tools, a move that would have paralyzed operations at the busy Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.
