Catriona Laing held discussions on the security situation in Somalia with a team from the African Union (AU) on Thursday.
Laing, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Somalia, met with a delegation from the AU Political Affairs, Peace and Security (AUC-PAPS) in Mogadishu.
They discussed the impending security transition in the East African nation.
The AU Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) is scheduled to leave the country by December 2024 thus handing over all security responsibilities to Somali National Army (SNA).
