Taiwan’s Ambassador to Somaliland, Nabil Chen-Chi Wu, has assured the Speaker of the House of Representatives of his country’s commitment to the pact with Somaliland.
Ambassador Chen-Chi Wu made this assurance during his meeting with Speaker Bashe Mohamed Farah of Somaliland’s House of Representatives in Hargeisa.
Taiwan established diplomatic ties with Somaliland this year.
Consequently, the two nations have established Representative Offices in each other’s territory with Taiwan’s already operational while Somaliland’s will be opened in September 2020.
Several legislators from Somaliland attended the meeting with Taiwan diplomats.
During the hours-long meeting, Speaker Bashe briefed Ambassador Chen-Chi Wu on the tremendous achievements Somaliland had made in the last three decades.
The Ambassador also reassured the Somaliland legislators of his country’s commitment to strengthen relations with the East African nation despite opposition from Somalia and China.
He also mentioned the admirable democracy, peace, and development in Somaliland.
