AMISOM Conducts 2-Day Elections’ Coverage Training for Journalists in Baidoa

African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) conducted two-day training on elections coverage for journalists in Baidoa.

AMISOM’s Public Information Unit facilitated the training, which attracted 30 journalists from Baidoa, the administrative capital of Southwest State, and Hudur.

Mohamed Adan Mohamed, the regional Deputy Minister of Information and Social Services, addressed the journalists during the opening ceremony.

In his speech, Mohamed commended the incredible role that journalists in the region play in developing and building the nation.

Further, he said that the training would enable journalists to report on the elections credibly.

Mohamed reminded them that the largest number of Members of Parliament (MPs) in the federal government is from Southwest State.

Fadil Karar, AMISOM’s Coordinator for Southwest State, also addressed participants at the training.
