The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) commended President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo for planning to hold Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS) talks on elections.
Last week, Farmaajo assured representatives of the international community that he would be leading FGS-FMS talks on elections in Dhusamareb, the administrative capital of Galmudug State, from February 1.
The President of Somalia mentioned that the National Consultation Conference would last three days. Afterward, he promised to address the Upper House and Lower House on the Dhusamareb discussions.
On January 31, AMISOM expressed delight with Farmaajo’s decision.
In its statement, AMISOM commended President Farmaajo for taking the initiative to initiate dialogue and build consensus with all stakeholders to ensure that the country holds its long overdue parliamentary and presidential elections.
