AMISOM Discusses Security for Baidoa Elections

African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) held a meeting with local authorities to discuss security for Baidoa elections.

Senior AMISOM officials, under the leadership of Simon Mulongo, the Deputy Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, met in Baidoa on Saturday.

Apart from Mulongo, other AMISOM officials who attended the meeting on security for Baidoa elections included Augustine Magnus Kailie AMISOM Police Commissioner.

Kailie also serves as the Assistant Inspector General of the Police (AIGP).

Maj. Gen. Gerbi Regassa Kebede, the new AMISOM Deputy Force Commander in Charge of Support and Logistics, was at the meeting too.

The AMISOM leaders held discussions with Southwest State’s President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Lafta-Gareen in Baidoa.

During their meeting, the leaders discussed ways of improving the capacity of local police to ensure that elections take place in a peaceful environment.
