The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has donated food to families in Dhobley and Kismayo to mark the end of Ramadan.
AMISOM said the donations are to help families to mark Eid-al-Fitr celebrations, which are scheduled for this weekend.
The donations would cater for up to 600 families in the two cities.
Each of the families received a package that contains spaghetti, rice, biscuits, sugar, cooking oil, tealeaves, flour, and beans.
Over 200 families in Dhobley are set to benefit from the donations.
Col. Jackson Lesaiyo, the Deputy Commander for AMISOM’s Sector II contingent, said the food donations were for vulnerable families.
He further said the donations would target Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who were rendered homeless by the recent heavy downpour and raging flash floods.
Over 400 families in Kismayo are to benefit from AMISOM’s food donations too.
