AMISOM Holds Training for Troops on IED

African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) organized for its troops on Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The training was for 40 soldiers serving AMISOM under Ugandan People’s Defense Force s (UPDF).

AMISOM held the training in Arbiska, a town that is 30kms to the northwest of Mogadishu.

The training has lasted the last five weeks.

AMISOM said that the training, which ended on January 8, aims to enhance the capacity of its Ugandan soldiers to counter the threat of IEDs.

Col. Jimmy Nabiyu, the Commander of UPDF’s Battle Group XXX (BGXXX), presided over the closing ceremony.

He rewarded the trained soldiers with certificates for completing the course, which is titled “Route Clearance and Electronic Counter Measure.”

Col. Nabiyu congratulated the soldiers while encouraging them to utilize their skills well for the benefit of the people they serve Somalia.
