Augustine Magnus Kailie, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) Police Commissioner, has praised the ongoing collaboration between the force’s officers and their Jubbaland counterparts.
He commended the close working cooperation between the two sides on February 9 while in Kismayo, the administrative capital of the semiautonomous region of Jubbaland.
Kailie said that he had not only evaluated the level of preparedness of his officers and their morale but also assessed the progress being made to mentor and build the capacity of the Jubbaland Police Force (JPF) officers.
AMISOM’s Police Commissioner encouraged his forces to continue on the path of close cooperation with JPF officers to help the latter to understand their role in the upcoming elections in the region.
As part of its mandate, AMISOM has been training local police officers.
The training ensures that Somali police officers acquire the knowledge and skills needed to help them to function properly in various parts of the country.
