Africa Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has rewarded 159 outgoing soldiers with service medals and certificates.
AMISOM awarded them during a ceremony held on Sunday.
The officers, who are from the Second Contingent of Sierra Leone Formed Police Unit, have played a critical role in achieving AMISOM’s Police Mandate.
The soldiers, including 30 female officers, served in Jubbaland’s capital of Kismayo.
AMISOM organized an award ceremony at its Police Headquarters in Mogadishu to reward officers who have served diligently for the last 16 months.
Ambassador Francisco Madeira, Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) in Somalia, attended the event.
Augustine Magnus Kailie, AMISOM Police Commissioner Assistant Inspector and Maj. Gen. Abdi Hassan Mohamed, the Chief Commissioner of Somalia Police Force were at the event too.
Ambassador Madeira hailed the officers for their stellar contribution towards making Somalia a peaceful country.
