African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has expressed sadness with the brutal killing of Governor Ahmed Muse Nur of the Mudug Region in Puntland.
According to Ambassador Francisco Madeira, the AU Special Representative in Somalia, AMISOM received news of Governor Nur’s killing with “great sadness.”
Ambassador Madeira cited the instrumental role that Governor Nur played in ensuring that the residents of Mudug received all the services provided by the local government.
He also expressed gratitude at the incredible contribution the deceased made in leading the war against COVID-19 from the front.
Governor Nur was also crucial in stabilizing and reconstructing the region.
In his statement, Ambassador Madeira expressed heartfelt condolences to Governor Nur’s family as well as the people and government of Mudug and Puntland in general.
