AMISOM Starts the Construction of a New Kismayo Police Station

African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has launched the construction of a new police station in Kismayo.

AMISOM launched the construction on Monday, August 16.

According to AMISOM, the new station is designed to ensure that local officers from Somali Police Force (SPF) have access to ample office space.

Further, the station increases the officers’ operational capability thus making it easier for them to improve security in and around the seaport town.

Alex Ndili, AMISOM’s Deputy Police in Charge of Reforms, Restructuring, and Development Coordination, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony.

Yusuf Hussein Dhumal, Jubaland’s Minister of Security, joined Ndili in launching the station’s construction.

Dhumal and Ndili inspected the site where the station is expected to stand.

Additionally, Ndili launched several other projects. First, he presided over the drilling of a well that is expected to address the water needs of people around Dalhiska Police Station.

Secondly, he attended a ceremony held to install solar panels at Dalhiska Police Station.
