African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has announced that it intends to accelerate its electoral security plans in Somalia.
This emerged on August 27 following a meeting of the senior commanders of AMISOM.
The commanders held a two-day meeting with their colleagues from the Somali National Army (SNA) before making this announcement.
They announced joint operations with SNA troops.
During the meeting, AMISOM and SNA commanders evaluated the progress of the AMISOM Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and the Somali Transition Plan.
Additionally, they discussed ways of implementing United Nations Security Council Resolution 2568 (2021) at their Mogadishu meeting.
AMISOM and SNA officers talked about ways of preparing for the post-2021 when the AMISOM forces are projected to leave Somalia.
