AMISOM has trained several police officers in Jubaland to equip them with skills for managing traffic in the region.
The training will also bring the officers up to speed with road traffic rules and regulations. It also trains them to investigate road accidents.
Kismayo Central Police Station was the venue for the 12-day training. AMISOM designed the training to make the state’s public roads safe and orderly.
Victor Nahabwe, AMISOM’s Police Training and Development Coordinator, said, “The training had several goals aimed at helping police officers to manage road traffic.”
Nahabwe also reiterated that police officers should now be able to work with various partners and stakeholders to manage traffic on Jubaland’s roads.
The Jubaland Traffic Police Commander, Lt. Col. Bashir Hiis Khalif, hailed the training for refreshing his officers’ knowledge on traffic management and road accident investigations.
