The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) conducted training for new military and police officers on Environmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Through the training, AMISOM hopes that its newly deployed officers would be up to date on mandatory procedures and processes to follow on environmental management.
AMISOM launched the Environmental SOP on August 19, 2020.
In the recent times, AMISOM has welcomed new military and police officers into Somalia.
The training ensures that the officers know the best way of handling waste, energy, water, plants, and wild animals.
Ambassador Francisco Madeira, the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) in Somalia, welcomed the officers to the virtual training.
In his brief address to the officers, Ambassador Madeira told them that they are about to grasp their environmental responsibilities better.
