African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) trained leaders in Southwest State on conflict resolution and reconciliation.
AMISOM’s Political Affairs Unit organized and undertook the training.
The continental organization said that the training was designed to equip traditional elders in the Southwest with “skills for mediating and resolving conflicts.”
More than 40 traditional elders attended the four-day training that took place in Baidoa, the administrative capital of the semiautonomous state.
Ali Wardhere Abdirahman, the Governor of the Bay Region, commended AMISOM for training the traditional elders.
Governor Wardhere said that traditional elders play a crucial role in enhancing peaceful coexistence within their communities.
