African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) transported and handed over election materials to HirShabelle Electoral Commission on August 14.
AMISOM’s Burundi contingent was in charge of transporting the materials.
HirShabelle is the only Federal Member State (FMS) yet to hold senatorial elections. Jubaland, Southwest, Puntland, and Galmudug have already held theirs.
Currently, Somalia is conducting senatorial elections at the regional state level.
The East African nation will then proceed with parliamentary (Lower House) and presidential elections within the next two months.
