African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) handed over several newly built classrooms in Jubbaland to local education officials.
The handing over of the classrooms is part of the AMISOM’s desire to strengthen the Somalia Transition Plan.
Jubbaland is one of the regions in the country worst-affected by terrorism, especially from Al-Shabaab militants.
Consequently, educational facilities in the region had remained in a deplorable state for ages.
The AMISOM contingent that worked on the classrooms in Hosingow is from Kenya Defense Forces (KDF).
It is the second time in the last two months that KDF hands over a set of newly constructed classrooms to local administration in Jubbaland.
Brig. Paul Njema, the Commander of AMISOM’s Sector II unit, witnessed the handing over ceremony, which several teachers, students, parents, and other soldiers attended.
Brig. Njema reassured members of the local community of AMISOM’s continued support to uplift the education sector in the region.
