The Arab League has recommitted itself to continue supporting Somalia.
Ahmed Abul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the 22-member strong Arab League, issued a statement on Monday reassuring Somalia of the organization’s support.
He restated the importance of respecting Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Gheit’s comments were in relation to the diplomatic row between Somalia and Ethiopia.
The row kicked off when Ethiopia signed a seaport agreement with Somaliland on January 1, 2024.
Since then, Somalia has repeatedly accused Ethiopia of interfering with its domestic affairs as it considers Somaliland part of its territory.
